Poet to Read at Hobbs State Park

Award-winning poet Geffrey Davis to share nature-inspired poetry at Hobbs State Park-Conservation Area (ROGERS, Ark.) – Join Hobbs State Park for a special afternoon of poetry and inspiration as celebrated poet Geffrey Davis reads from his favorite nature-themed works. The event will take place at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 27, in the park’s visitor center. Davis, whose poetry reflects a deep connection to the natural world, invites attendees to experience his work firsthand. “I’d like to encourage folks to come out and hear a writer of deep feeling who finds inspiration in the outdoors and whose poems feature trees, deer, bees, fish, and birds (including a pigeon or two),” Davis shares. A native of the Pacific Northwest, Davis grew up surrounded by coastal rivers and old-growth evergreens before exploring the trout streams of the Alleghenies and eventually settling in the Ozarks. His poetry often captures the wildlife, weather, and landscapes of the places he has called home, while also exploring the bonds between people and the environments they inhabit. Davis is the author of three acclaimed poetry collections: One Wild Word Away, Night Angler and Revising the Storm. He has received numerous honors, including the James Laughlin Award from the Academy of American Poets, Arkansas’s Porter Fund Literary Prize and fellowships from prestigious organizations like the National Endowment for the Arts and the Whiting Foundation.
